CHX Challenge is all about charity fundraising challenges in the Alps and in 2018 we once again raised over £300,000 for various partner charities. We design and deliver tailored  events that run from 3 to 7 nights and are based on trekking or speed-hiking depending on your desire for challenge!  They run from our luxury chalet base in Chamonix and usually incorporate three countries – Italy, France and Switzerland.

We aim to get people into real wilderness (but not far from luxury!) and the aim all along is to create a really unique and eye-catching event that makes it far, far easier to fundraise and that is completely inclusive of all abilities.

In the alps it is not hard to find a real challenge that is bigger than Kilimanjaro in terms of mileage and altitude, and one that only requires two or three days off work. Our aim is to go where the crowds are not, where escapism is maximised, and where personal challenge, team environment and charitable cause all combine for an unforgettable experience.

Example challenges

Three Peaks, Three countries, Three Days – You stay in luxury chalet in Chamonix for the entire challenge and we travel out each day to tackle some of the highest trekking peaks in the alps – one in France, one in Switzerland and one in Italy.

Speed Hike the Tour du Mont Blanc in 6 Days – Iconic 170km route that follows the trail of one of the Worlds toughest trail races.

Speed Hike the CCC in 3 or 4 Days – Again an iconic trail race route, but this time covering on average 25km per day, and much more tailored for those that want a challenge but are new to mountains or trails.

Snow Shoe Challenge – We can choose the route to suit the group!  Snow shoeing is actually the CHX team’s favourite mountain sport.  The main reason is we can travel hut to hut, high above the ski pistes and actually not see another soul for 3 days! Or we can mix it up with  chalet life and make sure our fundraising is done from the luxury of the valley floor….. entirely up to each  group.

Our hut-to-hut challenges start and finish in Chamonix where we have a chalet base that we keep for the entire event. It means on our first and last night you get the luxury of Chamonix-centre chalet and our CHX Chef – Phil Jones – who makes sure your nutrition is both perfect preparation and perfect recovery.

Out on the trail we stay in mountain "refuges" that mean we avoid the crowds and get a real adventure far away from civilisation.

For our chalet-based events such as Three Peaks and Snow Shoe Challenge we base ourselves in utter luxury for every night in Chamonix, which means you get the luxury chalet and CHX Chef cooking for you every night. If you can cope with work hard / play hard, you even have access to the Chamonix night life!

As with accommodation, all meals are included in the trip cost. When in Chamonix it is cooked by our chef, who works closely with our resident nutritionist – Alison – to make sure all dietary needs are covered. In the mountain huts we buy lunches along the route, and breakfast and evening meals are all cooked for us in the refuge itself. Again we try to cater for dietary requirements by communicating with the refuge in advance so that they are aware of any special needs.

Please bring your own snack and energy foods.

Getting to Chamonix could not be easier. There are plenty of flights into Geneva every day, from all major UK airports. It takes on average 75 minutes from UK to Geneva and then you simply get a transfer straight to the chalet door. This takes a further 60-75 minutes. You just need to book your flight and we will send you a link to book your transfer, or visit our Partners page in "About" and book through the CVT link.
